Confederation Of Tomorrow: Affordable Housing: Approval of Federal, Provincial, And Local Governments

|

The Confederation of Tomorrow Survey of Canadians has released a report on the level of approval Canadians have in the federal government and in their provincial, territorial, and municipal governments’ efforts to deal with the supply of affordable housing. The Brian Mulroney Institute of Government is a proud partner in the study along with the Centre of Excellence on the Canadian Federation, the Canada-West Foundation, the First Nations Financial Management Board, and the Centre D’Analyse Politique – Constitution et Fédéralisme. The survey was conducted by the Environics Institute for Survey Research.

The availability and affordability of housing is a top public policy issue. It is an issue in which all levels of government play a role. The Confederation of Tomorrow survey finds that Canadians are more likely to disapprove than approve of how each of their governments is managing the issue. A key finding is that, in every province, disapproval of how both the federal and the provincial government are managing the supply of affordable housing outweighs approval by a significant margin.
